Summer is my favorite time of year for so many reasons, but a big reason is the fun and dynamic summer curriculum we get to create for our Children of Tomorrow Schools and Classrooms.
Hi there! My name is Megan and I am an Assistant Director at Chanhassen Children of Tomorrow Learning Center and Preschool. Here at COT, we work to make our summers the best they can be and with that comes planning.
Our curriculum coordinators and teachers come together early in the year to brainstorm our summer theme and exactly how we are going to bring it to life in our schools. Our teachers play a major role in what the children get to learn about each day and our collaborative summer curriculum planning process thrives as a result.
For the summer of 2020, we are excited to announce that our theme is…
IF YOU READ A CHILD A BOOK | 2020 Summer Camp at COT
Our summer camp will be all about authors and story books. Each school picked authors they wanted to create lesson plans for and we spent time working to create activities for math, science, art, movement, language and literature.
Children of Tomorrow Learning Centers use HighScope curriculum for our infants and toddlers and Core Knowledge curriculum for our preschool and Pre-K classrooms. Our curriculum gives children a chance to use their whole bodies and integrates social and emotional learning opportunities based on each child. Children can learn and grow at their own pace while actively learning through natural play, events and interactions with others.
With our summer curriculum planning day, we also take time to talk about field trip planning, summer events, and just enjoying one another’s company. We are looking forward to our 2020 Summer Camp coming to life in our classrooms this summer!
Stay tuned for more information about our 2020 Summer Camp at COT and registration dates coming out this month. We will be offering special early bird pricing for our current COT families so make sure you don’t miss out!
