The Benefits of Stretching

There' are a number of reasons parents might benefit from a good stretching routine. Some might be looking to improve their sports performance, some are looking to decrease joint pain and others simply just want a great stretch especially when trying to keep up with their children. The benefits of a stretching routine are tremendous. Here are a few to mention:

IMPROVED SPORTS PERFORMANCE

Above all else, we celebrate the freedom to move, to participate, and to engage in the life you want to have.

INCREASED RANGE OF MOTION & FLEXIBILITY

A proper stretching routine over time increases your range of motion and flexibility – making everyday tasks easier and improving your quality of life.

REDUCED MUSCLE AND JOINT PAIN

Stretching helps to alleviate muscle tension, reducing pain in sore areas and joint pain as well as aid in injury and pain prevention.

IMPROVED POSTURE

Proper alignment and balance through stretching helps improve overall posture and allows you to stand taller.

REDUCED STRESS

Stretching benefits both your physical well-being and your mental health, as it allows the blood and oxygen to flow better, improving mental clarity.
Just like any activity, consistency is key and employing some best methods for stretching can make a difference. Using a “push & release” type of stretching (technically “proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation stretching”, or PNF) where you will be resisting a bit at times during the stretch and then releasing can result in a more effective stretch.

Reclaim your freedom to move, to participate, and to engage in the life you want to have!
